The English Premiership,
is the pinnacle of football in England, it is sponsored by Barclay's bank. It was formed in 1992 from the clubs in the top division of the football league, and there are now currently 20 teams in the league.
Clubs contest the league competition each year for the ultimate prise which is the Premiership trophy. A true unique looking trophy made of silver and topped with a gold crown - which famously, Eric Cantona wore around Old Trafford after United won the league in it's first season '92-'93.
The original sponsor to the Premiership was Carling from1993 to 2001 but since then it has been Barclay's who have take the responsibility.
The logo which was created to associate the teams with the league is a blue lion, with a red football and crown, with “the FA premiership league in a green title box. It is a very well recognised logo through the football and soccer world.
This is an incredibly popular league with over one hundred and ninety countries tuning in to watch the premiership each season. With Sky publicising the games over their networks.
Players in the premier league are worth a huge amount of money and are bought and sold between top teams for millions each season. Some of the teams who are constantly in the Premiership include Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
