The Rugby world cup is a relatively new competition to the sport. It was created in 1987 and has largely been dominated by Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and England.

South Africa are the reigning champions winning the trophy earlier this in Paris, the tournament was one of the best yet and done great to created more coverage and popularity of the sport.

New Zealand were the first team to win the title in 1987, Australia have won the competition twice, in 1991 and in 1999, while South Africa and England have won it on the other two occasions.

The world cup has been host to some of the biggest names in rugby and all sporting history, with names like Jonah Lomu gracing it and not to mention Sean Fitzpatrick and Johnny Wilkinson.
The competition in 2003 was broadcast in 205 different countries and had an average attendance at the pitch of 32,282 fans, with the final having over 82,000 spectators.  And the final that year will not be hard for English fans to recall!
