Wimbledon is the oldest and one of the most prestigious events in tennis.
It is held between June and July in London, United Kingdom: the tournament is the third Grand Slam event played each year, after the Australian Open and the French Open, and before the US open.
The tournament lasts two weeks, but may be extended for rain, and is the only Grand Slam event currently played on grass surface (although there are other tournaments which are played on this surface as well, such as Queens and Halle).
The current men's champion is Rodger Federer, who has retained this title since 2003, beating Andy Roddick twice in the final. The Ladies final was won this year by Venus Williams, for the fourth time, this competition has been heavily dominated by the Williams sisters over this past eight years, with one appearing or winning in 6 of the last finals!
The mixed men's doubles was won by Bob and Mike Bryan while the ladies doubles was won by Zi Yan and Jie Zheng. The mixed double title went to Andy Ram and Vera Zvonareva.
Although this competition is over for this year, tickets to next years Wimbledon will be available sooner than you think! You can find tickets for practice sessions, one match, or full day tickets, as well as other options.
Tickets to centre court, the main court at the facility are hard to come by with large queues and waiting lists to get in! Within the UK this is one of the biggest sporting events the country hosts and thousands of people will travel to London to witness the professionals and experience the atmosphere!
