The UEFA Cup is a football competition organised by Union of European Football Association. The first competition was in 1971 which was to replace the Inter-cities Fairs cup, as well as replacing the UEFA Cup winners' Cup in 1999.

We are now at the final stages of the competition which see Espanyol and Sevilla play on the 16th May 2007 in Hampton Park in Glasgow.

The two Spanish sides overcame stiff competition throughout the group stages, beating teams throughout Europe, such as Tottenham Hotspurs, Benfica the Portuguese side, as well as Werder Bremen from Germany and another Spanish team, Osasuna.

Espanyol have never won this competition but have got to the final on only once before in 1988. Sevilla on the other hand, are the reigning champions, having won the competition in 2006, this was the only time they reached the final before, they will be looking to retain their title in May.

Over the history of the competition English teams have won ten finals and been runners up on eight, a record which is matched perfectly by Italy, with Spain also having 10 wins over the years. With regards clubs winning achievements it is Juventus who hold the title of winning most UEFA cups titles, while Liverpool are joint fourth with Valenia having won 3 games each.
