Newcastle United Football Club, founded in 1892, after the merger of two local clubs – Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End, they are an English Premier League football team based in Newcastle.
Within the first few years of the creation of the team Newcastle went on to take claim the league in 1905, 1907 and 1909 and they also reached five FA cup finals in seven years, but only winning one, without doubt in the early years they were the best team in England!
However, as expected the clubs run of good form did not last and the club began to fall, but with the return of Kevin Keegan as manager to the club things began to look up!
In more recent times the team has Sir Bobby Robson was in the manager but was dismissed after a bad season and Graeme Souness was appointed as his successor only two weeks later, and after an initial good start, he pulled Newcastle out of the bottom half of the division, but after a poor start to the following season he was sacked and Glenn Roeder – the then youth director was acting manager, along with player/manager Alan Shearer, between them they raised Newcastle out of relegation worries and to the top seven of the league, Roeder was appointed as full time manager and since his time with the club has made a number of purchases making his side stronger.
The team's home stadium is St James' Park, the original ground for the Newcastle West End team, and their traditional home colours are black and white.
Newcastle supporters are considered to be among the most passionate in the country, as they regularly follow their team in strong numbers across England and Europe. Notable Newcastle fans include ex-Prime Minister Tony Blair.
