The location, Augusta National Golf Club (a private golf club in Augusta, Georgia) is the same every year. The Masters was started by Clifford Roberts and Bobby Jones.
Winning the Masters gives a golfer an automatical invitation to play in the other three majors (the U.S. Open, The Open and the PGA Championship) for the next five years and a lifetime invitation to the Masters.
In last years competition the prize fund was six million US Dollars! And in accordance to the cash award the winner of the tournament is presented with a green jacket, which has been awarded to the winners since 1949. The jacket is the official coat worn by all members of Augusta National while on the club grounds. After winning the masters you will become an honorary member of the club.
Winners are allowed to keep their jacket for one year, and then return it to the club to be worm every time they visit the club.
Finding a ticket to the Masters is not only extremely expensive but they are also very difficult to come by.
The tournament has received a lot of criticism due to its requirement that people wishing to purchase a ticket must provide a U.S. Social security number, and therefore restricting access for fans from other countries as well as increasing the threat of identity fraud.
