manchester Unites jersey

Manchester Jersey The Manchester United football jersey was origionally half green and half yellow, they didn't change to their famous red until 1902 when they first became known as Manchester United. United fans hold the shirt as sacred as they recognise what it stands for and where it has come from.  Indeed, many United fans have objected to the shirt being sullied by a sponsor.

The club was formed as Newton Heath LYR F.C in 1878, it was a team made up of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway depot at Newton Heath. The club faced bankruptcy in 1902 but was bought over by JH Davies who changed the name to Manchester United and the name has not changed since!

Their away strip is white jersey with black shorts and white socks.
The current red jersey has gold strips down the side with MUFC symbols are in black, while the letters MUFC are embroidered at the bottom of the shirt in gold, with the current sponsor in white .

The crest on the jersey has been altered over the years, but the basic design remains the same. The main section is made from the crest of the city of Manchester, while the presence of the devil on the badge is from the clubs nickname, “the red devils”
