Liverpool are a well known team in English football,
With a number of outstanding achievements throughout their years of existence it is no surprise that they also have a large following.
The club was founded in 1892 by John Houlding; a shrewd businessman, he looked at Everton FC and realised that money could be made from football if the right person was at the helm. He bought Anfield and decided to create his own team to play there.
Liverpool are still home to this stadium but are soon to start work on a new 61000 seater stadium beside neighbouring Stanley Park following the take over by new owner, American Businessman Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
The clubs jersey has changed over the years with the teams, however they were not always the same. When the club took over Anfield from Everton, they also took the Everton colours, of a blue and white, wearing almost the same kit, and it wasn't until 1984 until they changed to their current red colours, and in 1901 they adopted the cities liver bird as their crest.
Liverpool's away kit has also varied over the years, originally it was white jerseys and black shorts or all yellow. However this changed in 1987 where an all grey kit was introduced, but the most recent away kit is yellow and a champions league away kit also exists which is mainly all white.
