Steven Gerard is one of the most influential players within English football!
He has gained great respect over the years both within his home town of Liverpool but also throughout the UK as being one of the greatest footballers ever playing with the Liverpool club!
He began his professional career in in November 1998 - 99 when he came on as a sub, his first star came in the UEFA Cup in the same year.
It was 1999 – 00 season which saw his first real progression as a professional player, scoring his first senior goal against Sheffield Wednesday.
In 2000 – 01 he received medals for his participation in the League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup, he scored 10 goals this year.
He has remained dedicated to his local club through his career, dismissing gossip that he would switch, he never played with Manchester United, Chelsea or any of the other leading English teams!
His confidence and influence grew through 2001 and 2002 and it was 2003 – 04 season in which he was made captain of the Liverpool team, the following year he brought his team to the final of the Champions League, beating AC Milan after coming back from 3-0 down to level at the end of the match, with Liverpool winning on Penalties.
Gerard scored one of Liverpool's goals that night, and this made him one of only two people this century who have ever scored in both a UEFA Cup and Champions League final
This is recognised as one of the most famous comebacks within any sporting history!
The Career of Steven Gerard can only grow and improve, he is young, extremely talented and has accomplished so much in his career so far!
