The England National Rugby Union Team represents England in international competitions and is governed by the Rugby Football Union.
The team played their first match in 1873 and they made it to the last World Cup final but lost out to S. Africa.  They were the previous holders of the cup having won the 2003 edition of the World Cup.

England participate annually in the Six Nations Championship and have won the competition more times than any other country.
They have also achieved the most Grand Slams by completing the championship undefeated.

The IRB currently ranks England 4th out of 95 union-playing countries.
Their home ground is Twickenham in Middlesex and their national song is Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, even though it was sang by the black slaves on the cotton fields in the south of the USA.
