chester races ticketsChester Racecourse ("the Roodee") is the oldest racecourse still in use in England, and horse racing at Chester dates back to the early sixteenth century.
The racecourse is the only racecourse in the UK that lies within a city.

This makes race meetings at Chester very popular as it is very clothes to hotels, bars, shopping and restaurants. Hotels must be booked well in advance around race days.

A great free view of the course can be enjoyed from the old Roman wall that circumnavigates Chester.
The racecourse is just over a mile long, flat, and is raced anti-clockwise.
The major races which take place on this course include, the Chester Cup. Chester Vase, Dee Stakes, Huxley Skates and Ormonde Stakes.
Chester racecourse like many courses which hold major events holds a ladies day, this is the second day of the May festival, with a prise for the best dressed lady at the end of the day. This event attracts hundreds more spectators to the event.
