Cheltenham Festival

cheltenham festival ticketsCheltenham festival takes place in March each year at the Cheltenham racecourse in Gloucestershire. It hosts the best horses, jockeys, trainers and and owners from across the UK and Ireland.
This is a festival which is very popular with Irish visitors, partly because of the large number of Irish horses entered in the competition but also as it coincides with ST Patrick's weekend and is a bank holiday break.
Spectators from all over the UK will travel to see the races which are spread over four days. The prise money at Cheltenham is second only to the Grand National.

In 2001 the festival was canceled due to an out break of Foot and mouth disease in the UK.
The main race is the champion cup gold, but this festival hosts a number of races, including Champion Bumper, Ballymore properties Novices' Hurdle, Arkle Challenge Trophy, Champion Hurdle and many more. There is huge amounts of money bet throughout the four days of the festival.
Some of the great jockeys who have won at Cheltenham include, Ruby Walsh, Tony McCoy, Charlie Swan and Peter Scudamore.
