Chelsea Football Club,
out of west London were founded in 1905 at the Rising Sun Pub. Initially they did not receive much success and gained a reputation of signing big names and for being entertainers. They did reach a FA Cup final in 1915 but lost to Sheffield United But it wasn't until Ted Drake came to the club in 1952 and started to manage the club that the reputation began to change, he removed the Chelsea pensioner crest and build a new youth training regime, he re-built the side and brought them to their first major success in 1954 – '54 season when they won the League title.
Chelsea have only ever had one ground, that being Stamford Bridge football ground. It was officially opened in 1877 but for the 28 years before Chelsea was founded it was used exclusively by London Athletics Club.
They have won three League titles (becoming Premier League champions for the second consecutive year during the 2005 - 06 season), three FA Cups, three League Cups and two UEFA Cup Winners' Cups.
Chelsea's crest features a blue heraldic lion holding a staff. The club have the fifth highest average all-time attendance in English football.
