Bolton Wanderers were founded in 1874, they have a long and proud history winning the very first FA cup final held in Wembley in 1923.  They are one of the origional 12  member teams of the Football League; formed in 1888.

It was in 1995 when Bolton Wanderers reached the premiership for the first time, under the management of Bruce Rioch, but it was with Colin Todd that noticeably improvement was noted with the team. They have on several occasions since then been up and down from the premiership with a number of different managers.
Throughout the years they have reached achieved a number of different titles, including FA Cup winners on four occasions, runners up in the league cup, and winners of the FA charity shield in 1958.
In recent years, many of their matches have been noted as memorable matches, because of the exceptional performances from any number of the great players on the Bolton team.
In 2005 - 2006 they played in the UEFA cup for the first time.

Bolton Wanderers home shirt is a white with navy trim, however this was not always the colours of the team, in 1884 they wore white with red spots, but the original and traditional colours of the team were plain white shirts with navy shorts.

The team's club badge consists of the initials of the club in the shape of a ball, with red and blue ribbons beneath. The significance of the ribbons is to represent the red rose of Lancashire. The original crest of the club was the town crest of Bolton.

The Olympic gold medalist Amir Khan, is an avid Bolton fan.
