Blackburn Rovers Football Club, founded in 1875, are one of the three teams to be founder members of both the Football League and the Premier League. They won the league and FA Cup several times before 1930, returning to being League champions in 1995 - making them one of only 4 teams to do so (Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal the others).
The team were promoted back to the Premiership in 2001, after being relegated in 1999, and have since then qualified for the UEFA Cup three times, once by winning the League Cup and twice by earning sixth place in the Premier League.
Their current manager is the ex-Man. Utd. legend Mark Hughes, who is very highly regarded has a manager and is tipped by many to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson when he steps down as United manager. They are performing extremely well in the league this year and a place in Europe looks likely whilst they will also be hoping to do well in the domestic cups and the UEFA Cup.
The teams colours were traditionally blue and white strips although the jersey has changed many times over the year, the colours has not, the latest jersey is much larger strips, only two in fact on the front of the jersey, one blue, one white.
The crest on the shirt of each player is a blooming red rose with a Lattin motto, “Arte et Labore” meaning “by skill and Labor”, as well as the date the club originated.
For away matches the jersey the team wears is black and red, a similar design to the home kit, with different colours.
